Dr. Khalafi is an Interventional and Structural Cardiologist at Heart Center of North Texas. He went to medical school at the University of Missouri - Kansas City at the age of 18 where he completed a 6-year BA/MD program. After graduating, he did his internal medicine residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial hospital in Miami, Florida. This then led him to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he completed his cardiovascular disease fellowship at Tulane University where he was the Chief Cardiology Fellow. Following this, he further pursued a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the Medical City of Fort Worth. Fort Worth has always been home for Dr. Khalafi as he is a Fort Worth native and a Texan at heart. He is very excited to be joining the Heart Center of North Texas to help serve this city.
Dr. Khalafi specializes in a variety of disease processes including general, interventional, and structural cardiology, peripheral vascular diseases, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, along with several others. He is skilled in performing, but not limited to, diagnostic cardiac catheterizations, coronary stenting, peripheral vascular stenting, rotational and laser atherectomy of the coronary and peripheral vasculature, carotid stenting, PFO/ASD closures, aortic valvuloplasty, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, Impella/intra-aortic balloon pump placement, transesophageal echocardiograms, electrical cardioversion, loop recorder implantation, pacemaker implantation, and inferior vena cava filter placement.
